OEB announces electricity distribution rates for West Perth Power Inc. and Clinton Power Corporation

TORONTO, Jan. 20 /CNW/ - The Ontario Energy Board (the Board) has announced electricity distribution rates for West Perth Power Inc. (West Perth) and Clinton Power Corporation (Clinton). The new rates are effective January 1, 2011.

The delivery line of electricity bills will increase by approximately 0.1%, or $0.02 for a West Perth residential customer using 800 kWh per month. The delivery line of electricity bills will increase by approximately 28.4%, or $7.88 for a Clinton residential customer using 800 kWh per month. The delivery line represents about one-third of the total bill.

West Perth requested $1,126,093 to cover their costs for the 2010 rate year. As a result of the Board's alternate dispute resolution process, West Perth reached a settlement with intervenors, which the Board approved. West Perth's approved settlement agreement will recover a revenue requirement of $879,479, for the 2010 rate year.

    In the settlement agreement, West Perth Power agreed to:
    -   A 10% increase over their 2009 revenue requirement
    -   Defer its proposed regulatory costs of $80,000 to its next Cost of
        Service Application
    -   Defer disposition of its deferral and variance accounts to its next
        IRM application.

Clinton requested $989,485 to cover their costs for the 2010 rate year. As a result of the Board's alternate dispute resolution process, Clinton reached a settlement with intervenors, which the Board approved. Clinton's approved settlement agreement will recover a revenue requirement of $698,615 for the 2010 rate year.

    In the settlement agreement, Clinton Power Corporation agreed to:
    -   A 33% increase over their 2009 revenue requirement
    -   An increase to its amortization of regulatory costs from two years to
        four years.
