Montréal hosts brainstorm on technological future of North American conventions

MONTREAL, Sept. 15, 2011 /CNW Telbec/ - Until September 17, 2011, the Palais des congrès de Montréal will be hosting, jointly with Tourisme Montréal, the 2011 Professional Convention Management Association (PCMA) Technology Think Tank. This event will bring together U.S. meeting and convention industry decision-makers and players to discuss technology issues and the technological outlook for their sector.

"Sharing our expertise helps move the industry forward and position Montréal favourably internationally," states Marc Tremblay, President and CEO of the Palais des congrès de Montréal and the event's host. "It is also a great pleasure for us to showcase the dynamism and unique character of the city and its convention centre," adds Luc Charbonneau, the Palais Director of Business Development and Strategic Alliances.

The Palais and Tourisme Montréal became partners of the PCMA in 2010 following a three-year agreement. The PCMA, which is the leading organization for meeting and convention professionals in North America, represents some 6,000 members from 17 chapters across the U.S., Mexico and Canada. The partnership gives the Palais added exposure within the event planning community. It also enables the Palais to target business opportunities and further develop its business intelligence regarding the North American convention market. The 2011 Think Tank, made possible thanks to the participation of AVW-TELAV, Avaya, Cisco, GES and Telus, is among the many education and networking events the PCMA schedules annually.
