TORONTO, Sept. 22, 2011 /CNW/ - Women from across the GTA assembled
early this morning at Vaughan Mills to compete in Canada's third annual
STYLESENSE Stiletto Sprint. Michelle Cowell of Brampton Ontario won the
100 metre women's final with a time of 16.7 seconds to take home the
$10,000 grand prize. "This is really a group win as I was encouraged
and supported by my co-workers who convinced me to participate,"
explains Cowell, who was cheered on by her excited colleagues waving
signs that read 'Go Michelle Go'. What will she do with her winnings?
"Well, the reason we participated in the first place was to raise funds
for a great cause, so my co-workers and I are holding a vote to decide
which charity to donate the winnings to."
Tugba Karademir, 26, of Barrie placed second, finishing the 100 metre
final with a time of 17 seconds, while Monique Rhooms of Brampton
placed a very close third with a time of 17.44 seconds. As second and
third place winners, Karademir and Rhooms earned $2,500 and $1,000
Seon Holmes, 22, of Vaughan was the winner of the men's race with a time
of 14.9 seconds. "I wanted to participate to support a great cause, but
I really didn't expect to win - I just bought my heels yesterday and
tried them on once before the race," says Holmes who got a second
chance at the prize when the first men's finals was deemed a false
start. With his winnings, Holmes plans to buy something special for his
mom and girlfriend.
"What an incredible morning! We were thrilled to host this exciting
event for the third year now," says Shannon Johnson, STYLESENSE
Spokesperson. "Not only was the race a perfect opportunity for women to
show what they can accomplish in a great pair of heels, but we were
also able to support a wonderful cause in the process."
All registration proceeds were donated to Look Good Feel Better,
Canada's only charity that addresses the appearance related affects of
all cancers affecting women. "The Third Annual STYLENSENSE Stiletto
Sprint has helped to build even greater awareness of Look Good Feel
Better", says Mara Bonadie, Director of Marketing, Communications and
Events for LGFB. "The thousands of dollars raised through event
registration paired with the generous $20,000 corporate donation from
STYLESENSE will go a long way to help support our programs".

About Look Good Feel Better
Look Good Feel Better is Canada's only national charity that addresses
the appearance related affects of all cancers affecting women. It was
created from the belief that if a woman with cancer can be helped to
look good, chances are she'll feel better, her spirits will be lifted
and she'll be empowered to face her illness with confidence. All
registration fees benefit this great cause. Plus, STYLESENSE is proud
to make an additional contribution to Look Good Feel Better to
commemorate this exciting event.
