Proment Corporation brings forward construction date of the first Pointe-Nord tower
MONTREAL, Jan. 10 /CNW Telbec/ - On January 13, Proment Corporation will
hold the official groundbreaking ceremony for Evolo, the first
residential tower of the Pointe-Nord project. This 30-storey
condominium building will be the highest on Nuns' Island, and its
stylish architecture will significantly alter the Montreal skyline as
viewed from the Champlain Bridge. Thanks to considerable public
interest, 60% of Evolo's 260 condominiums have been sold in just four
months. This strong demand has resulted in Proment Corporation's
decision to begin construction earlier than the date initially
scheduled. Located on the banks of the St Laurence River, Evolo is at
the heart of the sustainable neighbourhood of Pointe-Nord, whose plan
was recently awarded LEED ND Gold certification.
Evolo should welcome its first residents from November 2012 and, at its
peak, the building site will involve as many as 150 to 200 employees.
When finished, the project will host high-design condominiums ranging
between 675 and 2,600 square feet. The arrival of Evolo will help
strengthen Pointe-Nord's reputation as an urban village with a wide
variety of dwellings and retail boutiques.
An official ceremony will bring together the project's main partners,
marking the beginning of the construction phase:

A resounding success
The first two buildings of this sustainable neighbourhood, Evolo and
ZUNI, together represent a total of 460 condominiums and lofts, with
over 340 sold in a little over a year! "We are very excited by the
interest Evolo has generated. The extremely positive feedback has
prompted us to bring forward the construction phase, which was
initially planned for spring 2011", explains Samuel Gewurz, President
of Proment Corporation.
"The buyers were quick to notice the hard work we'd put into planning
the area and the building", says Louis-Joseph Papineau, Vice-President
of Development and Construction. "The tower is strikingly modern with
pure, soaring lines and boasts well-designed apartments, and an
exceptional geographical location - which has proved decisive in
Evolo provides buyers with an unrivalled lifestyle and high-quality
amenities directly inside the building, allowing future residents to
keep fit and entertained without having to leave their homes. The tower
will be the centrepiece of a pedestrian plaza, and its residents will
enjoy direct access to multifunctional trails, while being at the heart
of an urban community with specialty boutiques, restaurants and
With a location on the banks of the St. Lawrence, the Pointe-Nord
project (of which Evolo is a part) places particular importance on the
role of water. In fact, the river will be visible from all streets and
will be the principal attraction of the area's main square. What's
more, downtown Montreal is just five minutes away!
A LEED-certified area
Thanks to its expertise in environmentally-friendly construction,
Proment Corporation will apply the principles of sustainable
development to the Evolo tower, aiming to secure the LEED certification
granted to green buildings. Furthermore, the Pointe-Nord plan recently
received LEED Neighbourhood Development (ND) Gold certification from the US Green Council Building. This label recognizes that the whole district has been planned to let
residents live according to principles of sustainable development.
"For people living in the community, there will be an impact on many
aspects of life, including everything from access to public transport
and proximity to retail stores to the ease of getting around on foot or
by bike. Rainwater collection systems will be installed to help
irrigate plants; street lighting will use LED technology; and green or
reflective roofs will be implemented on the various buildings",
explains Ilan Gewurz, Executive Vice-President of Proment Corporation.
"These are just some of the things that will make Pointe-Nord a
wonderful place to live!" he concludes.
