TORONTO, April 28 /CNW/ - On Sunday May 1st, 2011 the 12th Annual Ontario Police Memorial Ceremony will be held at 11:00 am the
Police Memorial Park at Queens Park Circle and Grosvenor Street in
Sgt. Ryan Russell of the Toronto Police Service who was killed in the
line of duty on January 12* of this year will be honoured at this
Ceremony with six Ontario officers from our historical past.
Premier Dalton McGuinty and Minister of Community Safety and
Correctional Services Jim Bradley will be in attendance along with an
expected over 1,000 Police Officers and law enforcement personnel from
Ontario, Canada and the United States.
"We are here to honour and remember our fallen brothers and sisters who
have given their lives in the service and protection of the citizens of
Ontario. We bow our heads in gratitude for the sacrifice made by the
police officers whose names are on the Memorial and we also recognize
the dreadful loss borne by their families," said Larry Molyneaux,
President of the Police Association of Ontario.
The Memorial Wall has the names of 248 Ontario Police Officers engraved
who have died in the line of duty in the history of the province.
