Kia Canada Inc. achieves best March on record while establishing best first quarter in history and extending industry-best 27 months of continued growth.

MISSISSAUGA, ON, April 1 /CNW/ - Kia Canada Inc. has established three consecutive record months in 2011 including a best-ever first quarter sales volume at 12,313 units. The performance in quarter one 2011 allowed Kia Canada to surpass 10,000 units for the first time in its eleven year history during that time period. The quick start in 2011 has assisted with a 25% growth versus previous year. The month of March recorded 5394 sales in Canada which includes a 21.6 per cent growth versus previous year. Strength in sales across the country also contributed to three consecutive months in 2011 where all regions benefited. Additionally, March's results assisted with the industry-best sales streak at 27 months.

The Georgia built 2011 Kia Sorento Compact Utility Vehicle (CUV) continues to fuel record impressive sales volume. March sales volume resulted in 1415 vehicles reported nationally, revealing an 88.4 per cent increase versus March 2010.  The Kia Forte line-up resulted with an impressive 1237 units sold in March or a 4.5 per cent increase and the Kia Soul, Urban Utility Vehicle reporting 828 units or a 1.5 per cent increase versus previous year. The all-new Kia Sportage CUV also achieved its best-ever volume sales results since its launch in July 2010 registering an 82.2 per cent increase versus previous year. "It was imperative that Kia Canada established a quick start in 2011 that has included strong, consistent volume increases in all areas across the country led by a variety of vehicle lines" said Maria Soklis, Vice President and Chief Operating Officer Kia Canada Inc. "The month of March is also important to Kia as it marks the first month where the all new 2011 Optima recorded sales for the first time in history."

The month of March also included the media launch of the all-new 2011 Kia Optima mid-sized sedan.  Initially, the Optima will be powered by two Gasoline Direct Injection (GDI) engines, each offering class-leading fuel economy and performance. The all-new flagship 2.0L Turbo Gasoline Direct Injection (GDI) engine on the SX trim produces power of a V6, while achieving outstanding fuel economy of a four-cylinder. The regular aspirated 2.4L GDI engine will be available on both the LX and EX producing exceptional fuel economy and performance. The Optima LX starts at $21,995 which provides Canadians with exceptional design, technology and safety features.

Also in March, the 2011 Optima sedan was awarded Top Honours achieving the "best of the best' title for the coveted red dot design award out of over 4600 submissions. The 2011 Sportage also claimed its second red dot award for design.

April Incentives

Kia Canada is proud to continue the "Dare to Compare" sales event in April, which offers 0% financing on all currently available 2011 models. A unique offering of 0% financing over an 84 month term will be available on all 2011 Kia Rio sub-compact vehicles, along with attractive 0% financing over a 60 month term on the 2011 Kia Forte sedan, Soul, Rondo and Sedona. The 2011 Rio continues to hold a cash purchase price of  $9995 (plus delivery, destination, applicable taxes and other fees) when combining all incentive offers. In addition to the low financing rates available, there is also a 'Don't Pay for 90 Days" loan deferral program on select Kia models. Cash buyers can also select up to seven vehicles from Kia Canada's line-up for under $20,000
