MONTREAL, Jan. 25 /CNW Telbec/ - Hydro-Québec would like to thank all
its customers for their invaluable contribution during this latest cold
snap. We also wish to thank the members of the media for their
cooperation. This collective effort, launched on Sunday, January 23,
has resulted in lowering electricity consumption by approximately 300
MW during the peak demand hours.
In light of the fact that electricity consumption for this evening is
forecast at 34 800 MW and that temperatures are on the rise,
Hydro-Québec informs the public that they can resume their usual
electricity consumption during peak hours. We use this opportunity to
remind our customers that the efficient use of electricity year-round
is always a responsible choice.
Electricity demand in Québec reached a historic peak yesterday morning
at 7:38 a.m., hitting 38 286 MW. The temperature in Montréal during the
peak was - 28 degrees Celcius.
