Hudak's platform "vague" with "lots of gimmicks"

TORONTO, May 31, 2011 /CNW/ - After releasing his "slickbook" platform over the weekend, Tim Hudak has been criticized from across the spectrum. Here's a selection:

"But where will the money come from? That's the rub…If the deficit is to be erased, more will have to be sacrificed. The Tories haven't said what…It's canny politics. But Ontario voters aren't fools. They can spot a multi-billion-dollar gap in a balance sheet. By Oct. 6 they'll want to know how the Tories propose to plug that hole."
  - Toronto Star Editorial, May 31, 2011

"Tim Hudak's campaign document is a collection of vague bromides and weakly-stated promises."
  - Michael Den Tandt, Toronto Sun, May 31, 2011

"…lots of gimmicks."
  - Kelly McParland, National Post, May 30, 2011

"Ontarians who look beyond the bullet points, and do the actual math, will come away confused and disappointed."
  - National Post Editorial, May 30, 2011

"It's too bad that the most visionary aspect of his platform is $20-million for the supposed objects of his scorn."
  - Globe and Mail Editorial, May 30, 2011

"Change for the sake of change."
  - Adam Radwanski, Globe and Mail, May 30, 2011

"Hudak's bitterness at just about everything to do with Ontario has reached the point where he apparently believes he must destroy the province in order to save it."
  - Christopher Hume, Toronto Star, May 29, 2011

"In Hudak's laments for a long-lost Ontario, he harps on the past rather than seizing the moment and embracing the future. The PC platform has an unmistakably retro feel to it, with Hudak describing change in the comforting homilies, slogans and nostalgia of a bygone era. Changebook is both a U-turn and a hard swing to the right."
