TORONTO, April 1 /CNW/ - Combined March sales of 15,193 units by the

sales. The Honda Automobile Division reported March sales of 13,804
units, up 10% from last year, led by record March Civic sales. The
Acura Division reported March sales of 1,389 units, down 24% over last
"Despite the tragic events in Japan this past month, our sales have not
been impacted thus far," said Jerry Chenkin, executive vice president
of Honda Canada Inc. "Our dealerships remain fully stocked with
fun-to-drive and innovative Honda and Acura products for the Canadian
consumer. However, we do continue to monitor our sales and production
situations on a daily basis.
"As expected, we saw a strong sales surge of Civic in the month of
March. Canadians continue to recognize the value and DQR of the
best-selling passenger vehicle in Canada, surpassing the previous
record by over 900 units. With gas prices continuing to rise,
consumers also appreciate the high fuel efficiency of our entire Civic
line-up," added Mr. Chenkin. "We are anxiously awaiting the arrival of
the all-new Canadian-built 2012 Civic coming in late April."
Honda Canada Inc. has sold more than 3.4 million Honda and Acura
passenger cars and light-duty trucks in Canada over the past 38 years.
A record-high 96% of the Honda and Acura vehicles sold in Canada in
February were produced at the company's assembly plants in North
America, up from 95% the same month last year.
