GO Transit launches text message updates to keep passengers in the know on the GO

TORONTO, Jan. 10, 2011 /CNW/ - GO Transit's successful E-News notification system is adding another option to keep passengers instantly informed of service changes. GO riders may now sign up to receive SMS text messages directly to their mobile device, simply by subscribing for free at www.gotransit.com/enews.

"We are very excited to offer even more ways to communicate with our passengers. We've promised to keep our customers in the know, and SMS messages will reach out to even more of our customer-base", said GO Transit President Gary McNeil.

E-News messages, either by email or SMS text, include information on service improvements, new schedules, service status updates, station updates, and other news of interest to passengers.

Email and SMS alerts are fully customizable, allowing each subscriber to select their train line, station, or bus route, and the message distribution can be limited to particular times of day, such as morning or afternoon peak-periods.

GO Transit has signed up more than 62,000 E-News subscribers since 2005. With the addition of SMS messaging, alerts will be more accessible to more passengers, supporting GO's customer-first Passenger Charter and the importance providing timely, relevant information.
