Get Connected to Your Community

Ontario Trillium Foundation Seeks Volunteers

TORONTO, Jan. 14 /CNW/ - NEWS

The Ontario Trillium Foundation is encouraging Ontarians of all backgrounds to apply to serve on its Grant Review Teams. The Foundation is especially interested in applicants from the following regions, where there are immediate vacancies:

Northern Ontario:        The Districts of Temiskaming and Manitoulin

Eastern Ontario:       The Counties of Prescott-Russell; Stormont, Dundas and Glengarry; Haliburton; Peterborough; Lennox, Addington and Prince Edward

Western Ontario      The Counties of Haldimand-Norfolk; Perth; Elgin and Dufferin

Be part of Canada's largest grant-making organization. Here are three reasons why committed, dynamic volunteers want to work with the Ontario Trillium Foundation:

  • New connections - Join a network of smart, dynamic connected people who, like you, care about the community they live in.
  • Meaningful experience, real impact - OTF volunteers analyze and recommend grants to local organizations worth over $100 million - each and every year. You'll help decide which initiatives and organizations merit this funding. Your input will make local change happen.
  • Get plugged in - OTF grants support some really innovative work. Get connected to what's going on in your region or community.

Grant review team (GRT) members are appointed by the Government of Ontario for a term of one to three years. Learn more at www.grtrecruit.com .

QUOTES
"Make a difference in the county where you live," said Diane Labelle Davey, Director of Human Resources and Volunteer Resources, Ontario Trillium Foundation. "You will be contributing your knowledge, experience and community interest to the work of the Foundation. In return, you will gain more than you thought possible. You'll be volunteering alongside people equally committed to building stronger communities in your region."

QUICK FACTS

  • The Ontario Trillium Foundation relies on more than 300 volunteers to review and recommend over 1,500 grants each year.
  • The Foundation is encouraging younger people from all backgrounds to apply in order to add greater diversity and a broader range of perspectives to OTF's review and decision-making processes.
  • OTF volunteers don't provide a direct service or raise money. Working with professional staff, they decide where to spend millions of dollars each year to achieve the greatest impact.  They work in regional teams to assess and recommend grants worth in total between $1.7 to $20 million each year, depending on the region.
