OTTAWA, Jan. 26 /CNW/ - The union representing workers and retirees at
Fraser Papers say the amended Plan of Arrangements to complete the
company's CCAA restructuring is worse than what the company had
presented last week.
"We have given them a categorical 'no'," says Dave Coles, President of
the Communications, Energy and Paperworkers Union of Canada, reacting
to a revised version of the plan proposed to creditors by Brookfield
"This version of the plan contains even more restrictive language than
the first. Their only objective is to release themselves from wrong
doing, not to do the right thing by their employees."
"What they are doing - holding Canadian pensioners to ransom -- is
reprehensible," he says.
"CEP will defend our pensioners in every way possible. We will continue
to seek redress and do our best to get them what they are owed."
