LAVAL, QC, Jan. 17 /CNW Telbec/ - The Société de transport de Laval
(STL) is pleased to announce the renewal of its drivers' labour
contract, which expired last July 31.
In fact, the agreement in principle between the Employer and the Union
was reached last week and was ratified at a general meeting on Sunday
Under the terms of their negotiations, the two parties reached an

Pay increases of 2% were granted for each of the four years of the
In addition, the parties consented to make various amendments to their
collective agreement in order to allow for greater operational
flexibility and generate savings. The two parties agreed to reinject
the majority of these savings into the employees' pension plan so as to
resolve the present deficit situation. The employees also agreed to
increase their own contributions to their pension fund.
"This settlement bears witness to all parties' willingness to ensure the
health and sustainability of this pension plan," stated Pierre Giard,
General Manager of the STL.
This agreement sets the tone for renewing the labour contracts that will
soon have to be signed with the Company's other unionized employees.
