Foresters Annual Golf Tournament raises close to $100,000 for SickKids

TORONTO, June 27, 2011 /CNW/ - More than 120 representatives from businesses across the Greater Toronto Area teed off at the Foresters™ Annual Golf Tournament at DiamondBack Golf Club in Richmond Hill to raise funds for The Hospital for Sick Children (SickKids). Foresters, a life insurance provider committed to the well-being of families, helped raise approximately $100,000 in support of children's health.

"Foresters Golf Tournament was a great success.  We understand that coping with a seriously ill child impacts the well-being of an entire family," said George Mohacsi, Foresters President and CEO. "Foresters is committed to children's health and with the generosity of our vendors, suppliers and presenting sponsors, Scotia Capital and CGI, all proceeds raised will benefit families of SickKids."

A member of Children's Miracle Network, SickKids is dedicated to improving the health of children and providing the best in family-centred care. With corporate and community support, SickKids is well-positioned to continue to be a world-leader in scientific and clinical advancements, guiding the next generation of experts in children's health.

"Foresters has been an outstanding partner over the years and we are delighted they are donating all proceeds raised from their golf tournament to SickKids," said Ted Garrard, President and CEO, SickKids Foundation. "The money received will help ensure children who rely on SickKids will have access to the quality, specialized health care they deserve."

In addition to be being the founding sponsor and underwriter of Children's Miracle Network Radiothon program in the United States and Canada, Foresters has raised more than $25 million as the presenting sponsor of SickKids Radiothon over an 11 year span. Since the partnership began with CMN in 1990, Foresters has helped raise more than $430 million for local children's hospitals across North America. All money raised during Radiothons goes directly to local children's hospitals.
