The Corsage Project issues call to Toronto women - formal shoe donations needed

TORONTO, Feb. 17 /CNW/ - Have you ever wanted to help make someone's wish come true? For hundreds of Toronto-area young women, that wish is to attend their high school prom - something they wouldn't have the resources to do without a little help. That's where the Corsage Project comes in. Working in partnership with the Children's Aid Foundation, the Corsage Project creates a once-in-a-lifetime experience for its participants at its annual Boutique Ball; outfitting young women in financial need with a prom dress and all the accompanying accessories free of charge, so they can attend their high school prom with their peers.

This year the Corsage Project needs your help collecting donations of new formal shoes, in preparation for the Boutique Ball, which will be held on Sunday, April 10, 2011.

"We held our first Boutique Ball 11 years ago and since then we've outfitted more than 2,000 young women for their proms, helping them to celebrate an important milestone and create cherished memories," said Sarah Tuite, Corsage Project organizer. "Unfortunately, securing donations of new formal shoes has always been difficult. That's why we're issuing a challenge this year to women across Toronto - help us collect 500 pairs of formal shoes before April 10th."

Thanks to the generosity of donors and volunteers the Corsage Project's Annual Boutique Ball has grown each and every year and 2011 is expected to be its largest event ever. "No donation is too small," said Sarah. "Whether you are an individual or an organization, you can help a deserving young woman celebrate the achievement of her high school graduation with pride and in style."

New shoe donations can be dropped off at the Children's Aid Foundation at 25 Spadina Rd. Toronto. For more information on the Corsage Project or to donate, visit www.corsageproject.ca.
