Extreme Fitness Launches a new group fitness class designed to get recreational hockey players in prime condition for the game

TORONTO, Nov. 10, 2011 /CNW/ - Extreme Fitness Inc., a leading fitness club operator in the Greater Toronto Area, has teamed up with Lucas Miller, a professional hockey trainer, coach and owner of the Lucas Miller High Performance Hockey School, to introduce FIT4HOCKEY; a functional group fitness class developed to help recreational hockey players fine tune their hockey skills, improve performance and increase overall fitness level. He has designed the class to mimic the dry land style training drills that he uses with competitive hockey players and has tailored it to suit everyday average hockey players.

"Lots of Canadians play recreational hockey, but few put in the preparation to properly condition themselves for the sport," says Lucas Miller.

FIT4HOCKEY is a hockey-specific athletic group-training program developed exclusively for Extreme Fitness by Lucas Miller High Performance Hockey School.

The FIT4HOCKEY program is as close as one will get to training like a pro-hockey player, next to being on the team. It is designed to work on athletic movements including: foot speed agility, core strength, leg power, balance, puck-handling and overall muscle conditioning. Exercises focus on plyometric drills which are aimed to produce fast, powerful movements, much like the ones needed to play an aggressive game of hockey. Training is done using hockey sticks and balls.
