Ericsson to relocate Ottawa facility

  • Move to Kanata Research Park will be completed by end of 2012
  • Ottawa lab at forefront of global LTE research and development
  • New facility will have 200,000 square feet of operational space

OTTAWA, June 28, 2011 /CNW/ - Ericsson (NASDAQ: ERIC) announced today that it will relocate its Ottawa labs to a new facility located at 349 Terry Fox Drive, Ottawa.  The facility will house the company's more than 900 employees starting in the summer of 2012.  The move is expected to be completed before the end of 2012.

The new facility will allow for more efficient use of space and give Ericsson the capacity to extend its Over-The-Air testing and demonstration capabilities. It is also well served by public transit and has a number of amenities in the immediate area.

Ericsson's Ottawa lab is known for its industry-leading LTE research, the next step in wireless evolution, which enhances capacity-demanding applications such as interactive TV, mobile video blogging, advanced games and professional services. The Ottawa operations also focus' on CDMA Radio Access development and support as well as advanced wireless research activities.

Ericsson's new facility will have approximately 200,000 square feet of operational space, with the potential to expand an additional 40,000 square feet.
