TORONTO, June 29, 2011 /CNW/ - Dempster's is celebrating Canada Day by
donating up to 15,000 loaves of bread to local food banks. During the
month of July, for every new fan that joins the Dempster's® Facebook
fan page, one loaf of Dempster's® new WholeGrains™ Canadian Century
Grains bread, which was launched in June, will be donated to local food
banks1 to help nourish Canadians.
"At Dempster's we know how important nutritious foods are for
maintaining good health," says Andrea E. Graham, Senior Vice President
Marketing, Canada Bread, which makes Dempster's® bread. "As Canada's
bakery, it is important that we do our part to help nourish Canadians.
There is no better way to give back to our communities than by donating
loaves of bread to help fight hunger."
According to Food Banks Canada statistics in 2010, during an average
month, close to 870,000 Canadians accessed food banks and more than
330,000 of them were children2. Of those, more than 80,000 stepped through the front door of a food
bank for the first time3.
Dempster's® has rich baking roots in Canada dating back more than a
century and is proud of its tradition of delivering nutritious, great
tasting grain products to Canadians. Dempster's® new WholeGrains™
Canadian Century Grains bread is baked with 100 per cent Canadian wheat
such as red fife and barley for a distinct rich taste and texture.
Only Dempster's® WholeGrains™ bread is baked with a unique blend of
natural whole grains and is baked fresh daily, making it a nourishing
choice for you and your family.
The Dempster's® heritage of quality bread baking began more than a 100
years ago when James Dempster founded both the bakery and the tradition
of delivering nutritious, great tasting grain breads. Our baking
experts continue to live up to this tradition today with an
uncompromising commitment to fresh-baked grain products that nourish
you, your family and the communities we serve. For more information on
