TORONTO, May 30, 2011 /CNW/ - On the eve of DANIER's 40th anniversary, the iconic Canadian retailer demonstrates their focus on the role between art and fashion as they continue their brand evolution and bring excitement to the customer and the marketplace. Recently, the brand unveiled three exciting designer collaborations with Canada's top talent; an initiative that further celebrates DANIER's commitment to cutting edge design, support of Canadian talent and providing its customer with accessible fashion.

F/W 2011-2012 saw DANIER share their LOVE of LEATHER and invite the three great talents, George Antonopoulos, Greta Constantine and Mark Fast, to interpret the DANIER brand from their own unique perspectives. The resulting three capsule collections, Object by George Antonopoulos for DANIER, Mark Fast for DANIER and Greta Constantine SKIN for DANIER, further supports the brand's efforts to showcase cutting edge and inspiring designs each season.

Of his debut fashion line, designer George Antonopoulos says; "My philosophy behind OBJECT was creating modern classics in leather that are effortlessly integrated into anyone's wardrobe. Attainable and affordable, the designs are investment pieces translated in leather to create a new language of dressing." The collection is comprised of chic separates, aimed to update the modern women's wardrobe.

When approaching their six-garment collection, the creative forces behind Greta Constantine, Kirk Pickersgill and Stephen Wong, had a clear vision of what they wanted to achieve. "We wanted to develop pieces that exuded the ease and understated elegance of our Greta Constantine line," explains Kirk Pickersgill. Stephen Wong adds, "Creating pieces for a broader demographic allowed us to consider what 'affordable luxury' truly entailed".

DANIER chose to solicit top photography forces to capture each of the designer collaboration's unique perspectives and design art form for their individual campaign images. Noted photographer, Gabor Jurina, captured the dynamic movement and shape of the Greta Constantine SKIN for DANIER collection; artistic photographer, Moo, revealed the sophisticated aesthetic of the Object by George Antonopoulos for DANIER in his images; while Adam Levett who shot Mark Fast for Danier, delivered haunting visuals that captured the mood of the collection.

"It was a wonderful experience collaborating with Danier on my aw11 collection and seven piece capsule. I want to thank everyone at Danier who made our design collaboration such a success," Adds international design sensation, Mark Fast, of his collaboration with DANIER.

"Each season, DANIER's goal is to provide our customers with contemporary leather fashions at accessible pricing. Our collection for F/W embodies the DANIER brand; sophisticated and wearable. We are also thrilled to be showcasing capsule collections from George Antonopoulos, Greta Constantine and Mark Fast, bringing Canada's top designer's visions to our consumer." Jennifer Steckel Elliott, VP Marketing, DANIER

Fall/Winter 2011- 2012, invites the DANIER customer to go BACKSTAGE with designs that celebrate the daring and provocative. The 2012 season will showcase pieces created for the LOVE of LEATHER; incorporating elements of the backstage rock and roll lifestyle, seductive boudoir, and darkly adventurous forests. Both men's and women's collections will see a continued commitment from the DANIER brand in creating garments that will reinvent your wardrobe each season. Intriguing details from zippers, studs and chains, to lace and ruffles, to shearling trims create must have pieces, for looks that are set to impress. Rich shades of neutrals and jewel tones help to complete the season's glamorous feel.

Accessories play a central role offering a wide array of options for updating your look. Structured bags add a ladylike element to daily dressing, while buckles and straps give an equestrian twist on modern day sophistication. Fur, lace and prints will be a focus for Fall; scarves and hats have become luxurious staple pieces while plaids and stripes add interest to this season's key looks.

Once again, the brand chose to partner with the internationally renowned Canadian fashion photographer, Raphael Mazzucco in capturing their Fall/Winter campaign images. Shot on location in New York City, the resulting imagery exemplifies the brand's new direction and commitment to fusing the fashion and art worlds. Additionally, a creative collaboration with photography ingénue, Caitlin Cronenberg, saw a powerful collection of images created that further supports DANIER's commitment to their relationship with Canadian artistic talents.

In addition to the Designers for DANIER initiative and their photographer partnerships, the brand will see the winning looks from their annual DANIER Design Challenge with Ryerson University sold at select retail locations this fall. The 2nd annual competition showcased the next generation of Canadian design talent, resulting in the top two garments by runner up Jessica Tep and winner Andrea Dineen to be available in store Fall 2011.
