SHANGHAI, China, Sept. 2, 2011 /CNW Telbec/ - The Shanghai Municipal
Center for Disease Control and Prevention confirmed today the upcoming
visit of a delegation to Montreal as part of a series of meetings
organized by the Norman -Bethune Public Health Campus of the Quartier de la santé de Montréal.
Confirmation of the visit took place during a delegate meeting with
Quebec Premier Jean Charest.
The high-level Chinese delegation will participate in a series of
meetings with Quebec public health officials that will occur in
Montreal September 14 to 16. The delegation will be made up of
directors of the Shanghai Municipal Center for Disease Control and
Prevention and led by Fan Wu, director general of the organization.
The delegation is scheduled to meet a number of senior public health
officials from across Quebec including Dr. Richard Lessard, Director of
Public health at the Montreal Health and Social Services Agency, Dr.
Luc Boileau, Chairman and Chief executive officier of the Quebec's
National Public health Institute, and Marie-France Raynault, Chief of
the Department of Social and Preventive Medicine at the CHUM as well as
representatives from the universities, the Université de Montréal
foremost among them.
Discussions are intended to explore various areas of potential
collaboration such as teaching, knowledge transfer and clinical
practice. Also on the agenda will be an international public health
symposium to be held in Montreal in 2012.
"Quebec expertise in public health is recognized internationally," Guy
Gelineau, Director General of the Quartier de la santé de Montréal

la santé de Montréal initiative intended to facilitate resource sharing
between the principal Quebec public health institutions in the context
