CALGARY, Jan. 31 /CNW/ - China Coal Corporation ("China Coal" or the "Company") (CKO/TSX-Venture Exchange) is pleased to announce it has formed a technical advisory board that will provide advice and direction to management and the Board of Directors on future acquisitions.  The Company expects to announce a major financing and several coal mine acquisitions in China over the course of 2011 and beyond, and the addition of technical expertise is key to its business strategy in China.

The first member of this Board will be Mr. Gerry StephensonMr. Stephenson is President of Terra Cognita Resource Consultants and has had a 50 year career as a mining engineer, perhaps best known for his work with Norwest Corporation ("Norwest"), one of North America's most experienced resource consulting companies.  He left Norwest in 2004 after 25 years as a Founder, President and Chairman.  Mr. Stephenson's career has provided him with a very broad, detailed understanding of coal mining exploration and development globally.  During his career he has worked in all levels of the mining industry, including production, management, and engineering.  His experience covers mining operations in 35 countries, and he has presented and published on this body of work.  He resides in Canmore, Alberta.

In 1994 Mr. Stephenson received the CIM Coal Award for his "Outstanding service to the Canadian and International Coal Industry as an operator, consultant and expert adviser for surface and underground coal and oil sands mining projects, and for pioneering the practice of coal land reclamation in Western Canada".  He played a major role in planning, developing and operating the Underground Test Facility in Northern Alberta where the steam assisted gravity drainage system for recovering bitumen from oil sands was developed.

He has direct knowledge of most mining methods including longwall, shortwall, room and pillar and hydraulic (mechanized), operating in seams ranging in thickness from 0.5 m to 13 m and involving undersea mining, very high gas emissions, extremely faulted conditions and seams at gradients from 0 to 90 degrees.

He has been responsible for rock tunneling and shaft sinking, developing new mines in virgin areas, and the supervision of large labour forces in complicated production situations.  China Coal is extremely pleased to add his enormous experience and knowledge to its senior management capabilities.

The Company will continue to add members to its technical advisory board as required and as highly skilled and knowledgeable professionals become available.

On behalf of the Board of Directors
