OTTAWA, Nov. 23, 2011 /CNW/ - Babcock International Group PLC (Babcock)
announces today the re-branding of its Canadian Subsidiary "CSMG Inc."
to "Babcock Canada Inc." effective immediately. This name change will
ensure that the company's image and name accurately reflect the work
Babcock International Group first established a presence in Canada in
2007 as Canadian Submarine Management Group (CSMG), as part of a joint
venture between Babcock and Weir Canada. Weir's share in the joint
venture has since been transferred to Babcock such that Babock Canada
Inc is wholly owned by the Babcock International Group. The company is
currently under contract with Canada for the Victoria class submarine
In-Service Support Contract (VISSC). As such it provides a wide range
of services including programme and Project Management, Materiel &
Logistic Support, Systems Engineering, Configuration Management &
Records Support, Maintenance & Extended Docking Work Period Support,
and Information & Knowledge Management. Babcock Canada Inc. operates in
three locations in Canada; Ottawa, Victoria, and Halifax.
Its parent company, Babcock International Group, manages vital assets
valued over $62B and employs over 27,000 skilled staff who design,
build, manage, operate and maintain assets that are vital to the
delivery of many key public services across the UK, North America, Africa, and Australia.
The President of Babcock Canada Inc, Mr. Michel Bouchard states; "For
the past 3 years we have built on the solid reputation of Babcock
International as the leading naval in-service support provider in
Canada. It is now time to acknowledge that, while re-enforcing our
commitment to remain a truly Canadian company, hence the re-branding to
Babcock Canada Inc. The company's ownership, people, products, and
service have not changed, and our new name and image reflect our
historical roots while emphasizing core competencies. Most important we
will continue to live up to our motto; "trusted to deliver" and we will
maintain the company's focus on meeting the needs of the Canadian
Government and Canadians. We are proud of the work accomplished under
the Victoria class submarine In-Service Support Contract (VISSC) over
the past 3 years. Our line of business is unique to Canada and we will
continue to offer the opportunity for Canadian to develop and retain
these highly specialized skills."
The current framework established under VISSC is very much in line with
the National Shipbuilding and Procurement Strategy (NSPS) and offers an
environment where the ability for on-site Canadian decision and reach
back capability work in harmony. I am confident that the in-service
support model used for the submarine is only the beginning and that its
applicability will spread to other market areas such as surface ships
and the nuclear sector as was experienced in other allied countries.
Babcock Canada Inc. is committed to its main customer; "the Government
of Canada", to be "trusted to deliver", to offer opportunities to
Canadians, and to energize the local economies through community
events' participation and partnership activities."
