Canadian company markets new energy-efficient lighting technology

MONTREAL, May 17 /CNW Telbec/ - After completing all the steps in the patent and certification process, the Research in Lighting (RIL) division of Richporter is launching NeoPac© LED lighting technology in Canada. In addition to producing substantial savings, this high-performance, long-lasting lighting solution will help companies, institutions and municipalities reduce their environmental footprint.

NeoPac© technology is characterized by intelligent thermal management for LEDs (light-emitting diodes), which optimizes the performance of lighting solutions by making them ultra-powerful.  This new technology could be described as the most competitive available on the market to date, in both energy and environmental performance. It allows for energy savings of more than 75% over a conventional lighting system. For instance, the heat distribution system ensures that RIL's new LED lamps last for more than 60,000 hours, equal to nearly 7 continuous years of lighting—day and night!

"For a $90,000 investment in efficient lighting over 10 years, Richporter's LED lighting systems deliver a return on investment of up to $15,000 annually amortized over less than four years, which is a great advantage. In addition, they are environmentally friendly. We believe our technology is a judicious lighting solution for organizations that want to make strategic choices," said Pat Richardson, president of Richporter.

On the environmental front, RIL's patented LED lighting systems are revolutionizing the market since they make it possible to reduce CO2 by nearly 80% compared to regular mercury bulbs, which is equivalent to 65 tonnes per year. According to Statistics Canada, one tonne corresponds to the volume that would fill an average two-storey home. Replacing all the conventional mercury lighting in a space the size of the Bell Centre would reduce CO2 emissions by 7,310 tonnes annually.
