TORONTO, Jan. 20 /CNW/ - Premiering to overwhelmingly positive reviews,
Steven Tyler and Jennifer Lopez both hit a high note as the AMERICAN IDOL Season 10 premiere crushed the competition with 2.9 million viewers
last night on CTV. Between 8-10 p.m., more viewers watched AMERICAN
IDOL than the other four Canadian conventional networks combined. Up 5%
compared to its Season 9 average audience (2.7 million), the Season 10
premiere peaked with 3.5 million viewers and was the #1 program of the
night nationally in all key demos and in Canada's three largest
television markets. Building its audience from one hour to the next,
more than 7.7 million Canadians watched some or all of the broadcast.
Overall, AMERICAN IDOL is the biggest season premiere of the year since
CTV's megahit THE BIG BANG THEORY returned last September with 3.1

television last night were watching AMERICAN IDOL.** A total of 1.42 million viewers aged 18-49 watched the episode, and
1.35 million viewers aged 25-54.
At 10 p.m., CTV's BLUE BLOODS put OFF THE MAP off the map in its new Wednesday night home. Winning the hour in total
viewers and all key adult demos, CTV's BLUE BLOODS (1.6 million) delivered 81% more viewers than OFF THE MAP (ABC/Global;
882,000), which fell 38% compared to last week.
