SASKATOON, April 21 /CNW/ - Literally hundreds of thousands of peaceful
Canadians have been criminalized by the gun controls created by the
Liberal government in 1995. They are subject to arrest and jail because
they don't have the personal licenses required simply to own guns.
The abolition of the so-called "long-gun registry" would do nothing to
solve this problem. Personal licenses would still be required under
penalty of jail.
"All the national parties engaged in the present campaign, plus the Bloc
Québécois, support the licensing system established by the Liberals,"
observes Al Muir, spokesperson for the Canadian Unlicensed Firearms
Owners Association (CUFOA). "Thus, all these political parties approve
criminalizing peaceful citizens."
"These peaceful gun owners," explains Mr. Muir, "simply want to exert
their traditional 'right to armes for their defence,' as the English
Bill of Rights guaranteed, and as they did during the first 130 years
"In fact," explains Muir, "the actual gun controls practically prohibit
ordinary Canadians from exercising their right to self-defense."
"The Liberals introduced the intrusive licensing system," continues Mr.
Muir. "The Conservatives, just like the New Democratic Party, promise
to keep it. And the Bloc Québécois, despite the tradition of the coureurs des bois ancesters, is happy to be as repressive as its federal friends."
CUFOA is an association of Canadian gun owners who practice civil
disobedience by refusing to obey the 1995 Bill C-68, including its
