Yonge Street Closure Advisory - Historic Thornhill Celebrates Its Community Spirit



    TORONTO, Sept. 7 /CNW/ - On Saturday, September 15th 2007 from 11:30 a.m.
until 2:00 p.m. Yonge Street will be completely closed to traffic between
Royal Orchard Boulevard and Clark Street. This section is located in
Thornhill, in southern York Region between Steeles Avenue and Highway 407.
    Motorists who use Yonge St. as a through route are advised to use either
Bathurst Street or Bayview Avenue.
    Several side streets including Centre Street will be closed from 8:00 am
until 5:30 pm
    Between 9:00 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Thornhill will be holding its 31st
Village Festival along two kilometres of streets in Old Thornhill. This annual
event of the Society for the Preservation of Historic Thornhill attracts up to
10,000 visitors.

    The Parade is from Noon until 1:00 pm.
    Entertainment is at five locations.
    Over 150 booths offer a wide variety of crafts.
    There are 2 Art Shows & Sales in historic houses
    There are special amusements for children.

    Because the Festival is organised by a volunteer committee, there is an
admission charge of $4.00 for adults and $3.00 for teens and seniors.
Admission is free for children (12 and under) and for those in historic or
heritage costume.
