Yellowknife man claims $1 Million SET FOR LIFE windfall!

WINNIPEG, Oct. 10 /CNW/ - Matt Murray can cross becoming a Millionaire
off his list of things he'd like to do in his life. Next on the list - being a
kid! The 19-year-old Yellowknife resident let out a big sigh of relief after
winning the $1 Million SET FOR LIFE Top Prize, and he said he can't wait to
work a little less and have some overdue fun!
On the way back from a movie recently, Matt and a friend stopped at Mac's
Convenience Store on 5000 Forrest Drive in Yellowknife, and Matt bought four
$5 SCRATCH 'N WIN SET FOR LIFE tickets. As Matt drove, his friend began
scratching the tickets for him, and she jokingly told him he'd won $10,000 on
the first one. So when she scratched the second ticket and revealed three 'Set
for Life' symbols to win $1 Million, Matt didn't believe her at first. He
quickly pulled the truck over to read the game's instructions for himself. "I
couldn't believe it was so easy - I thought maybe I needed four symbols or
something." But it was true - he'd won his choice of $1,000 a week for 25
years or $1 Million. "My stomach got tight, and I couldn't stop smiling," he
remembered. "There were so many things, I didn't know what I felt!"
"I've always worked two or three jobs, so I've been cheap," explained
Matt, who is currently the manager of a hotel in Yellowknife. Even after
spending an entire day at West Edmonton Mall the day before claiming his
prize, the Millionaire didn't buy any major items. "I might (spend) when it's
in the bank," he laughed.
    "Sometimes I feel like I'm 60. I've just worked," he commented. "I'm
going to have fun now. It's time to be a kid!" Opting for the $1 Million lump
sum, he said he plans to bank the majority of his winnings, but added he wants
to pay off his truck and mortgage, and he's considering a career change to the
real estate business. As for his list, Matt indicated that bungee jumping and
scuba diving are a couple of items that may get crossed off sooner rather than
later.

This is the sixth lottery player in Northwest Territories to win a prize
of $1 Million or more. The last lottery Millionaire in the Territory was a
34-year-old air attack supervisor from Fort Smith who won $1 Million on a
PLAYER'S CHOICE MEGA PACK SCRATCH 'N WIN ticket in November 2005.
