First-of-its-kind Bluetooth feature will provide over 1,600 attendees
with a free multimedia keepsake
TORONTO, April 12 /CNW/ - Globalive Communications Corp., a leading
provider of next generation telecommunications solutions globally, today
announced that Yak Communications (Canada) Corp., a subsidiary of Globalive,
will sponsor "Art On The Go" and provide free long distance for every attendee
of the AGO Massive Party.
Yak will present a first-of-its-kind takeaway for AGO Massive Party
guests with "Art on the Go", a multimedia presentation showcasing the
exhibited artists and musicians for this year's event. Guests with
Bluetooth-enabled phones can download this virtual keepsake onto their
wireless device free of charge.
"Supporting arts education and programs in Canada is a cultural
responsibility," said Anthony Lacavera, Globalive and Yak's Chairman and Chief
Executive Officer. "Globalive jumped at the opportunity to become a two-time
sponsor of the AGO Massive Party. Besides being able to offer free long
distance calling and a great promotion for all attendees, guests will be blown
away by the new Bluetooth option that will allow them to take a bit of the
experience with them when they leave."
Yak will be providing 60 free minutes of long distance calling for each
guest as well as a text-to-win contest for every attendee. The winner will
receive one year of free long distance on their cell phones from yakCell and a
one year Family Membership for the Art Gallery of Ontario. All text messaging
entry fees will be sponsored by Yak.
"To offer our supporters such a unique token of our appreciation is a
reflection of the innovation and creativity associated with the AGO," said
Paul Altherr, the AGO's chief operating officer. "Massive Party is an
important signature event to attract more community involvement with the AGO.
Our partnership with Yak will allow participants to share their experience of
Massive Party long after the party's over."
The AGO Massive Party is sold out with over 1,600 guests, raising over
$100,000 in support of the Gallery's exhibitions and education programs. This
third installment of the Massive Party, the Art Gallery of Ontario's ultimate
art party, will be held on Thursday, April 12 at MUZIK nightclub, located in
the heart of the Canadian National Exhibition.
yakCell is currently developing SMS, online, and other promotional
applications to be launched later this year. yakCell is a product of Yak
Communications (Canada) Corp. Yak's most prominent long distance offering is
10-10-yak (925), a dial-around service which offers very economical per minute
rates. Globalive Communications Corp. acquired Yak Communications Inc. in the
fourth quarter of 2006.
