xwave to develop and implement an Enterprise Resource Planning strategy for College of the North Atlantic



    ST. JOHN'S, NL, May 12 /CNW/ - Newfoundland and Labrador's leading public
college will be able to better administer areas such as human resources and
student services through the upgrade of their enterprise resource planning
(ERP) applications. xwave, a division of Bell Aliant (TSX: BA.UN), announced
that it has signed a contract with College of the North Atlantic (CNA) to help
enhance and execute the strategy. The first phase involved the upgrade of
their PeopleSoft Financials in September 2008. The next phase will involve the
upgrade of CNA's PeopleSoft Human Resources and Student Administration
software that will provide the platform for enhancing their existing
application as well as planning for new functionality. The contract is valued
at approximately $2 million.
    College of the North Atlantic is one of the largest post-secondary
educational and skills-training centres in Atlantic Canada, with a history
dating back more than 40 years. The College comprises 17 campus locations
throughout Newfoundland and Labrador and one in the Middle East State of
Qatar. It offers nearly 100 full-time programs and more than 300 part-time
courses for some 20,000 students each year.
    "Critical administrative systems within an institute of higher learning
must be current, reliable, and easy to use - both for our students and our
administrators," said John Hutchings, VP Finance and Administration, College
of the North Atlantic. "This software will help us implement solutions that
are cost-effective and scalable in order to allow one of Canada's premier
post-secondary educational training centres to stay abreast of technology
advances while offering improved services that increase our competitive
advantage."
    xwave has been working with the College for the past year, successfully
delivering the College's PeopleSoft Financials upgrade. Building on this
success, xwave and the College have nurtured a relationship that has grown
into a productive partnership.
