QUEBEC, June 15 /CNW Telbec/ - The Organizing Committee for the XIII
International Winter Road Congress is inviting all winter road experts to
register now to take part in this international congress.
Under the theme "Sustainable Winter Service for Road Users", road system
managers, researchers and specialists are invited to take part in the World
Road Association's (PIARC) XIII International Winter Road Congress, taking
place in Québec February 8 to 11, 2010. On the occasion of this event
presented for the first time in North America, about 1,500 participants from
some 50 countries will get the chance to take stock of road management best
practices for the environmentally responsible mobility and safety of users.

A diversified program
Congress delegates can count on a full program:
- Over 150 guest speakers;
- Seven technical visits;
- One ministers' session: "How to promote winter mobility adapted to

The Québec congress will offer two events previously unheard of in the
history of PIARC winter road congresses:
- One winter city mayors' session, during which these senior officials
will present their policies on the theme of "Economic and Financial
Governance of Winter Service;"
- One international snowplow championship bringing together snowplow
drivers from several countries in a skill competition judging the
precision and safe driving demonstrated by these winter service
An eco-responsible congress
To reduce its environmental footprint, the Québec organizing committee is
taking eco-friendly steps and is working together with the Québec City
Convention Centre to organize a zero carbon event.
Now 100 years old, PIARC was created in Paris in 1909 as an apolitical
non-profit organization. It is the oldest international association addressing
policies, techniques and management associated with road systems.
