World Library and Information Congress 2008 - IFLA 2008 - Invitation to the Media



    QUEBEC CITY, Aug. 8 /CNW Telbec/ - Mr. Claude Bonnelly, chair of the
national organizing committee for the World Library and Information Congress -
IFLA 2008, is delighted to invite you to the opening ceremony, in the presence
of Her Excellence and Right Honourable Michaelle Jean, Governor General of
Canada, and 4,000 information professionals from over 150 countries.
    Also attending the ceremony will be Ms. Marguerite Blais, Quebec Minister
responsible for Seniors and representative of the Quebec Minister of Culture,
Communications and the Status of Women; Ms. Denise Trudel, representative of
the mayor of Quebec City and councilor for the borough of Charlesbourg; and
Claudia Lux, president of IFLA.
    At the opening ceremony, Université Laval will award an honorary
doctorate to Mr. Ismael Serageldin, director of the prestigious Alexandria
Library, and writer Danny Laferrière will kick off the event with a talk on
the congress theme.
