TORONTO, April 16 /CNW/ - Broadcast pioneer Ted Rogers will receive the
Words & Deeds Leadership Award from The Canadian Council for Israel and Jewish
Advocacy (CIJA) and UJA Federation of Greater Toronto at the Words & Deeds
Leadership Award Dinner on Tuesday, April 17, 6:30 pm at the Fairmont Royal
York Hotel, Canadian Room.
The advocacy arm of UIA Federations Canada, CIJA is a non-partisan,
umbrella organization for Jewish community advocacy efforts, directing
strategies to improve the quality of life in Canada and abroad. UJA Federation
is the primary non-profit organization for Toronto's Jewish community and one
of Canada's largest non-profit corporations.
The dinner will be attended by some of Canada's most notable business and
political leaders. Among them are: Former Prime Ministers Brian Mulroney, the
Award Chair for the event and Paul Martin; Ontario Progressive Conservative
Party leader and Opposition leader John Tory; Former New Brunswick Premier
Frank McKenna; Ontario cabinet ministers Monte Kwinter and Mary Ann Chambers;
Ivan Fecan, President & CEO, CTV Globemedia one of the dinner's co-chairs;
retired Scotiabank Chairman & CEO, Peter Godsoe, the other dinner co-Chair;
honourary event co-chairs Larry Tanenbaum, Maple Leaf Sports & Entertainment;
Gerald Schwartz, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Onex Corporation and
