WINNIPEG, April 12 /CNW/ - ENSIS Management Inc. Vice President and Chief
Financial Officer, Jenifer Bartman, is the inaugural recipient of the Canadian
Sport Tourism Alliance 2007 Community Service Award.
The CSTA developed the six PRESTIGE Awards to recognize individuals and
organizations that have achieved excellence in the field of sport tourism. The
awards were presented at the CSTA Sport Events Congress in Gatineau, Quebec,
Canada's largest annual gathering of sport, tourism professionals, and event
management firms, attracting approximately 300 delegates each year.
Ms. Bartman was the Finance Chair, Volunteers Chair, and a Steering
Committee member of the 2006 Grey Cup Festival that was held in Winnipeg. The
Grey Cup Festival was responsible for managing events and services held
primarily during Grey Cup week, including the CFL Player Awards, the Grey Cup
Gala Dinner, VIP transportation, and various social events. Utilizing in the
range of 700 volunteers, the Festival generated approximately $1 million in
net earnings. She has also been an active volunteer, committee, and board
member for over the last 15 years in a number of areas, including business,
education, health, and sport.
"It is an honour to be recognized at this level for fulfilling a role
that was beyond exciting and a real privilege", said Bartman. "I would like to
express my sincere thanks to all of the Steering Committee members,
particularly co-chairs Gene Dunn and David Asper for their support, as well as
all of the volunteers, the Winnipeg Football Club and the Canadian Football
League for their partnership in this event, and the CSTA for recognizing
achievement in community service and considering my efforts as worthy of this
level of recognition."
"The PRESTIGE Awards were created to recognize people and organizations
that demonstrate excellence in the field of sport tourism", said Rick Traer,
CEO of the Canadian Sport Tourism Alliance, the organization that launched the
PRESTIGE Awards. "Jenifer is a sterling example of how an individual
capitalized on all available resources to bring a spectacular event to
fruition, combining her dedication and expertise with a great steering
committee and dynamic volunteers."
