Why is religion still around and - in fact - growing?

"Five Days of Faith" on The Agenda with Steve Paikin Series opener "The
Phenomenon of Religion" Monday March 26, 2007, at 8 pm on TVO

TORONTO, March 22 /CNW/ - Join The Agenda with Steve Paikin on Monday
March 26 at 8 pm for the launch of "Five Days of Faith" - a provocative week
exploring God, religion and faith in our modern era. Monday night's opening
episode explores the phenomenon of religion, as experts from various
denominations ask - and answer - the question: "Why is religion growing?"

Among the guests for Monday night's program, on "The Phenomenon of
Religion", are:

    - the newly appointed Archbishop Thomas Collins of the Roman Catholic
Archdiocese of Toronto, representing the world's largest religion. In
fact, the Toronto archdiocese is the largest Catholic diocese in
Canada, with a population of over 1.6 million in 227 parishes and
        missions.

    - Rob Oliphant, of the United Church, the largest Protestant religion
in Canada. Mr. Oliphant is Lead Minister of Eglinton St. George's
United Church in Toronto, one of the largest congregations in the
        United Church of Canada.

    - Archbishop Andrew Hutchison, primate of the Anglican Church of
Canada. The primate maintains a "pastoral relationship" with all
Anglicans in Canada, and sustaining this bond requires extensive
        travel throughout the country.

    - Abdul Hai Patel - an imam of the Islamic Council of Imams and former
Ontario Human Rights Commissioner. Mr. Patel is known for his work in
human rights, education, community safety, interfaith issues and
        diversity.

Other guests (to be announced) will represent the Jewish, Hindu,
Buddhist, and Sikh faiths.
Viewers are invited to share their own personal thoughts, perspectives,
or personal expressions of God and religion (e.g., photos, audio, and video
clips), or ask questions of religious experts, by visiting tvo.org/the agenda
and looking for the "Five Days of Faith" link.
Stay tuned for more specifics, including guest lineups, on the subsequent
episodes of "Five Days of Faith": Tuesday March 27: Science vs Religion;
Wednesday March 28: The Geopolitics of Religion; Thursday March 29: The
