Canada's top three regional finalists are revealed and will team up with hockey legends Mark Messier, Doug Gilmour and Guy
Carbonneau to rally for your votes for a chance to win!
TORONTO, May 4 /CNW/ - The quest for the Stanley Cup® is heating up, and
not just on the ice, but also for three very lucky Canadian hockey fans
who put their passion for this sport to the test. As part of the Bring Home a Stanley Cup ChampionTM contest, Nicole Langlois from the West (St. Albert, AB), Kevin McNamara
from Ontario (North Gower, ON) and Paméla Bonneau from the Quebec and
Atlantic region (Acton Vale, QC) have been selected as the program's
top three finalists by sharing their favourite Stanley Cup® Playoffs
moment. All three will now compete for the votes of Canadians for the
chance to win a once-in-a-lifetime visit from their regional Stanley
Cup® Champion AND the Stanley Cup® - right in their own homes!
"This year's finalists are an incredible representation of Canada's love
and enthusiasm for our National sport and myself, Doug and Guy are
going to help them get as many votes as possible!" says Mark Messier.
"In my four years with the program, I've travelled with the Stanley Cup
to the Ottawa Valley, Ontario; Summerside, P.E.I.; St-Lazare, Quebec
and Peterborough, Ontario. It's now up to Canadians to decide where the
Stanley Cup® will end up next."
The Bring Home a Stanley Cup ChampionTM contest received more than 800 entries from hockey lovers across the
country and now Nicole, Kevin and Paméla will compete for the highest
number of Canadian votes. The best part is that they won't be doing it
alone. Each has the support of their regional Stanley Cup® Champion:
Mark Messier representing Nicole in the West, Doug Gilmour paired up
with Kevin in Ontario, and Guy Carbonneau representing Paméla in the
Quebec and Atlantic region.
These three finalists are vying for the Bring Home a Stanley Cup Champion™ contest grand prize which not only includes a visit from the winning
finalist's regional Stanley Cup® Champion but also the Stanley Cup®!
The Cup® will be delivered during the winner's Ultimate Playoffs Party
for friends and family, to be featured as a segment on TSN. The second
and third place finalists will also have the incredible chance to
experience intimate at-home Playoffs Parties to be enjoyed with their
regional Stanley Cup® Champion as well.
Each Regional finalist has been tasked to produce an inspiring and
creative online video that explains why they deserve your votes to
Bring Home a Stanley Cup Champion and the Stanley Cup®. Canadians can
view these videos and vote for their favourite finalist at the contest
website - www.bringhomeachamp.ca - between May 2 and May 15, 2011. While each finalist is challenged to
rally for the most votes by using their own social media networks to
promote their videos, the only votes that count are those submitted
through the official contest website.
"We are so excited at Pepsi, Lay's and Gatorade to see how much regional support can be generated by each finalist and
Stanley Cup® Champion team during this voting phase," said Jason
McDonell, Vice President of Marketing, PepsiCo Foods Canada. "It's a
great way for Canadians to come together across the country, show their
passion for the game of hockey and root for a fellow Canadian hockey
fan's dream to come true."
"Spending a day with the Stanley Cup is something most people only dream
about and few actually get to experience," said Kyle McMann, Vice
President of Partnership Marketing, NHL. "So it's only fitting that we
now open the voting to Canadians to help determine who is the most
deserving of this once-in-a-lifetime kind of experience that only the
NHL in collaboration with Pepsi®, Lay's® and Gatorade® can provide."
To generate even more support and engagement this year, all Canadians
who register online to vote will not only have the opportunity to vote
for their favourite finalist (and are able to vote once every 60
minutes), but they will also be entered into a random draw for one of
seventy-five coffee gift cards, each valued at $100 CDN (visit www.bringhomeachamp.ca for more details).
"The participation of Canadians in this year's program has been
overwhelming" said Julie Raheja-Perera, Senior Director of Marketing,
PepsiCo Beverages Canada. "We love being able to give Canadian hockey
fans the chance to experience something truly special, amazing
experiences that will create hockey memories to last a lifetime."
To view each finalist video, to vote and for official contest rules

engaging in some friendly banter, of course.
