What's open and closed at the City of Montréal over the Holidays



    MONTREAL, Dec. 20 /CNW Telbec/ - Several Montréal municipal facilities
will be open over the holiday period, while others will be operating on
reduced schedules or closed on certain dates.
    Most municipal offices will be closed from December 24, 2007 through
January 2, 2008, including borough and Accès-Montréal offices as well as local
service points. Citizens also may consult borough Web sites at
ville.montreal.qc.ca.

    Garbage and recycling collections
    ---------------------------------

    As collection days and times vary by borough, citizens are asked to
consult weekly community newspapers, contact local service offices or log on
to borough Web sites for information on changes to pick-up schedules.

    Sports and cultural facilities
    ------------------------------

    Arenas, swimming pools, sports centres, libraries and cultural centres
also follow different schedules set by their respective boroughs. Citizens are
asked to contact personnel at these facilities to check on days and times of
operation.

    Science facilities
    ------------------

    The Biodôme (4777, avenue Pierre-De Coubertin) will be closed December 24
and 25 but open New Year's Day, January 1, 2008, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

    The Montréal Planetarium (1000, rue Saint-Jacques) will be closed
December 25 and January 1. However, the Planetarium remains open for the rest
of the holidays, from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. You may consult the Web site at

    The Montréal Botanical Garden and Insectarium (4101, rue Sherbrooke Est
and 4581, rue Sherbrooke Est) will be closed December 24 and 25, but open
January 1 from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Information: 514 872-1400.

    Other facilities
    ----------------

    The Montréal municipal court, at 775, rue Gosford, will be closed from
December 24 through January 2. However, the service counter at 303, rue
Notre-Dame Est will be open on December 27 and 28. Information: 514 872-2964.
    Court service points also will be open on December 27 and 28 at the
following boroughs:

    -  Outremont, 1433, avenue Van Horne
    -  Montréal-Est, 500, rue Saint-Jean Baptiste
    -  Pointe-Claire, 401, boulevard Saint-Jean
    -  Saint-Léonard, 8380, boulevard Lacordaire
    -  Saint-Laurent, 1405, rue de l'Eglise
    -  Verdun, 4555, avenue Verdun

    Public markets will be open from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Information: 514

    Marché Bonsecours (350, rue Saint-Paul Est) will be closed December 25
and January 1. On December 26 and January 2 the market will be open from
1 p.m. to 6 p.m. The regular schedule, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., applies throughout
the rest of the holiday period.

    Pointe-à-Callière, Montréal Museum of Archaeology and History, will be
closed December 24 and 25, but open on December 26 from noon to 5 p.m. Pointe-
à-Callière also will be closed December 31 and January 1, but open January 2
from noon to 5 p.m. Information: 514 872-9150.

    The Claude-Robillard sports complex will be closed December 24, 25, 26
and 31 as well as January 1. Information: 514 872-6900 or 514 872-1144.

    Ecocentres
    ----------

    Ecocentre Acadie (1200, boulevard Henri-Bourassa Ouest) will be closed
from December 23 through 27, open December 28 and 29 and closed from
December 30 through January 2. Information: 514 872-1376.
    Ecocentre de la Côte-des-Neiges (6925, chemin de la Côte-des-Neiges) will
be open December 24 but closed December 25 and 26. It will be open on
December 27 and 28 and closed December 29 through January 2. Information: 514

    Ecocentre Eadie (1868, rue Cabot) will be closed from December 23 through
January 2. Information: 514 872-8359.
    Ecocentre Rosemont-La Petite-Patrie (1100, rue des Carrières) will be
closed from December 23 through January 3. Information: 514 872-7706.
    Ecocentre Rivière-des-Prairies (11400, rue Léopold-Christin) will be
closed from December 24 through 27, open December 28 and 29 and closed January

    Ecocentre de Saint-Michel (2475, rue des Regrattiers) will be closed
December 23 through January 2. Information: 514 872-3267.

    Parking
    -------

    Please note that meters in parking lots will operate at all times
throughout the holiday season and that motorists also must obey no-parking
signs.
