WestJet to provide 'gifts of flight" for Make-A-Wish(R) children and their families

    New partnership is a wish-come-true for Make-A-Wish Foundation(R) of
    Canada

    TORONTO, March 16 /CNW/ - Make-A-Wish Foundation(R) of Canada, and
WestJet today announced a new philanthropic partnership that will provide
donated flights for the granting of travel wish requests.
Through a new community investment program entitled WestJet Cares for
Kids, WestJet will donate 600 flights for Make-A-Wish Foundation(R) of Canada
to use when granting travel wishes for children with life-threatening
illnesses and their families.
"More than 50 percent of the wishes granted by Make-A-Wish Foundation(R)
of Canada in 2006 were travel wishes," says Dave Stinton, President of
Make-A-Wish Foundation(R) of Canada. "This contribution from WestJet will have
a profound impact on our wish granting activities in future both in terms of
the number of wishes we will be able to grant, and the speed with which we
will be able to fulfil all such requests. Now, when a child makes a wish to
swim with dolphins or to have lunch with Cinderella at Walt Disney World(R)
Resort, we know they will be traveling under the care of WestJet. We are
thrilled, honoured and grateful to be partnering with WestJet as our airline
of choice."
"WestJet is dedicated to supporting children's health through community
investment," says Sean Durfy, President of WestJet. "We strive to empower all
WestJetters to make a difference in their communities. Partnering with
Make-A-Wish(R) will allow us to extend our caring culture to many courageous
children."

    -------------------------------------------------------------------------
Today, at 11 a.m., a celebration to officially launch the new partnership
will take place in the WestJet Hangar, 21 Aerial Place, NE., Calgary.

WestJetters and Make-A-Wish(R) families will write wishes on paper
airplanes, and fly them simultaneously to symbolize how the two
organizations will work together to make wishes come true.
