WestJet Launches Booking Engine for People With Vision Loss

CALGARY, March 1 /CNW/ - WestJet (TSX:WJA) today announced the launch of
their online booking engine for people with vision loss. Guests with vision
loss who use screen reading software can now book flights more easily at
westjet.com.
"WestJet strives to be accessible to all our guests," said Dave Jones,
Director of Web Business for WestJet. "We are sensitive to the needs of our
guests with vision loss and are committed to making westjet.com more
accessible."
WestJet is collaborating with long-time partner CNIB to ensure the site
is as user-friendly as possible. "WestJet should be commended for taking the
time, the effort and expense to make their website more accessible for people
with vision loss. This is truly the mark of an industry leader," said Bill
McKeown, CNIB Vice-President, Western Canada. "This is the first step in a
long term project - and a great partnership for CNIB's Accessibility
Consulting Service."
"WestJet has realized that people with vision loss do the same things our
sighted peers do. We make breakfast, go to work and, from time to time, we
need to book flights and travel," said JAWS screen reader user Mike Hambly.
"This tool only enhances our independence," he said.

WestJet is Canada's leading low-fare airline offering scheduled service
throughout its 35-city North American and Caribbean network. Named Canada's
most admired corporate culture in 2006, WestJet pioneered low-cost high-value

of Boeing Next-Generation 737 aircraft, and live seatback television provided
by Bell ExpressVu on the majority of its fleet, WestJet strives to be the
number one choice for travellers.

CNIB is a nationwide, community-based registered charity committed to
research, public education and vision health for all Canadians. CNIB provides
