WestJet Comments on Harmony Announcement

CALGARY, March 27 /CNW/ - WestJet (TSX:WJA) commented today on Harmony
Airways' announcement to suspend scheduled operations effective the end of
business March 30 for Toronto and April 9 for all other scheduled flights.
WestJet's Executive Vice-President, Guest Experience and Marketing, Bob
Cummings commented today, "This is an unfortunate situation for Harmony and
more so for the employees impacted by this announcement. Our thoughts are with
them."
WestJet will accommodate guests by extending its existing seat sales to
Honolulu and Maui, Hawaii as well as Las Vegas, Nevada. Fares are subject to
availability and WestJet will assess whether to extend these fares on a
day-to-day basis. WestJet had already announced increasing its service from
Vancouver to Las Vegas to daily effective Saturday, April 28.
Harmony customers can book WestJet flights online at westjet.com, through
WestJet's Sales Super Centre at 1-800-538-5696 (toll-free) or through their
travel agent.
WestJet has been in operation for over 11 years with scheduled service to
Hawaii since December 2005. Maintaining its low-cost model, WestJet will
remain true to its existing fare schedule and has no plans to alter its
pricing strategy as a result of Harmony's departure.
"While such announcements from the airline industry are sobering, we
believe the makeup of the Canadian airline industry is extremely viable for
two strong national competitors. As North America's most profitable airline
over the last two quarters, guests can rest assured that WestJet is
financially healthy and confident in its ability to deliver current and
projected service across our entire network," said Cummings.

WestJet is Canada's leading low-fare airline offering scheduled service
throughout its 35-city North American and Caribbean network. Named Canada's
most admired corporate culture in 2006, WestJet pioneered low-cost high-value
flying in Canada. With increased legroom and leather seats on its modern fleet
of Boeing Next-Generation 737 aircraft, and live seatback television provided
by Bell ExpressVu on the majority of its fleet, WestJet strives to be the
number one choice for travellers.
