OSHAWA, ON, June 10 /CNW/ - June 10, 2009 - As the Royal Canadian Mounted
Police (RCMP) continues to embark on the largest recruiting drive in its
history, you can learn more about what it takes to be part of Canada's
national police force.
The RCMP will be showcasing some of its units to the general public at
the Royal Canadian Legion, 471 Simcoe Street South. Featured will be members
of the Bomb Squad, Dogmaster, Emergency Response Team, Forensics and more.
There will also be an on-site demonstration of the RCMP's physical testing
A large part of an RCMP recruiter's job is to explain the application
process and to clear up common misconceptions about what is required to join.
"Many potential applicants believe college or university training is a
pre-requisite to join," explains recruiter Cst. Bev Salemink. "Post-secondary
education is not necessary, although it is certainly beneficial. When it comes
to education, the applicant requires a Grade 12 high school diploma."
