Wellington West Holdings appoints Chief Investment Officer



    Sam Pellettieri to lead asset management offering

    TORONTO, Jan. 17 /CNW/ - Wellington West Holdings Inc., a privately held,
employee-owned financial services firm, today announced the appointment of Sam
Pellettieri as Chief Investment Officer and Portfolio Manager.

    As Chief Investment Officer, Mr. Pellettieri will be fully responsible
for developing, implementing and guiding the overall investment philosophy and
thought leadership of the asset management business at Wellington West. With a
background in quantitative portfolio management, Mr. Pellettieri will
spearhead the augmentation of Wellington West's current separate account
offerings and based on the input of advisors, lead the introduction of new
client solutions including multi-manager wrap accounts, fund of funds and
other leading edge investment products. In doing so, Mr. Pellettieri will draw
heavily upon the field of behavioral finance (the understanding of investor
behavior) and from the advances in portfolio optimization and construction to
provide advisors and their clients with forward-thinking portfolio solutions.

    Mr. Pellettieri is a former founder, principal and portfolio manager at
Tetrem Capital Management, an investment management firm that manages over
$8 billion in equity assets for retail and institutional clients. Prior to
Tetrem, Mr. Pellettieri worked at Assante Asset Management Ltd, where he was
Director, Quantitative Research. In this role, he led a team of investment
professionals who developed and implemented quantitative models for security
selection, asset allocation, risk management, portfolio construction, and
performance attribution. Mr. Pellettieri started his career as a
Corporate/Government Fixed Income Analyst, and managed North American Fixed
Income portfolios. Mr. Pellettieri is a graduate of the University of Manitoba
with a Bachelor of Commerce degree, where he majored in Finance and minored in
Mathematics. He holds a Chartered Financial Analyst designation.
    Mr. Pellettieri brings two experienced professionals to join him at
Wellington West:
    Shaun Hauser, a former founder, Executive Vice-President & National Sales
Manager for Sarbit Asset Management. Mr. Hauser brings experience in
operations, product research & development, financing, and national sales
strategies. Mr. Hauser started his career as a Financial Analyst as part of
the Wealth Management Group for Loring Ward Investment Counsel. Mr. Hauser is
a graduate of the University of Manitoba with a Bachelor of Commerce (Hons.)
degree.
    Nestor Theodorou, most recently Executive Vice-President & Portfolio
Manager, Fixed Income for Sarbit Asset Management. Mr. Theodorou brings over
17 years experience in the Fixed Income markets, 11 in portfolio management.
In addition to Sarbit Asset Management, Mr. Theodorou was Portfolio Manager -
Fixed Income for Investors Group managing over $5 billion in Fixed Income
Assets and served as Director of Fixed Income for Assante Asset Management
where he developed and implemented quantitative based investment strategies
for Fixed Income. Mr. Theodorou also spent six years with BMO Nesbitt Burns as
a senior trader on the securitization desk. Mr. Theodorou is a graduate of the
University of Manitoba with a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering, and
holds an MBA from York University where he majored in Finance. He holds a
Chartered Financial Analyst designation.
