TORONTO, Dec. 14 /CNW/ - The general partner of Wellington Financial LP,
a privately held specialty finance firm, today announced its annual commitment
to donate an amount equal to every dollar of revenue generated today by both
its loan portfolio and from its general partnership to its 2008 charitable
Last year at this time, Wellington Financial announced the launch of a
$170,000 fundraising campaign to provide the necessary funds for a new, state
of the art, neonatal echocardiography imaging machine at the Neonatal
Intensive Care Unit at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre. This machine
enhances the ability for pediatric cardiac specialists to give immediate
remote feedback when needed, something that isn't possible with the existing
older technology. The imaging system was recently acquired and newborn babies
and their healthcare professionals are already benefiting from its use.
Wellington Financial is pleased to report that it has achieved its
objective through the concerted efforts and actions of our team and a group of
over 60 caring colleagues, friends and their firms. Leading donors to the
campaign included BMO Bank of Montreal Employee Charitable Foundation, Sloan
Mauran & Adrian Tauro, John Varghese and Mark & Andrea McQueen.
"This latest piece of essential technology could potentially save young
lives," said Mark McQueen, President & CEO of Wellington Financial. "We are a
small firm but recognize now more than ever that we can make a sizeable impact
with our philanthropic efforts."
Kevin Goldthorp, CEO of Sunnybrook Foundation added, "This successful
initiative is just one example of how corporate Canada can tangibly become
involved. We are grateful to Wellington Financial for their contribution to
the community. Their efforts will have meaningful impact on the more than
4,000 babies we deliver each year."
Wellington Financial will continue its campaign for Sunnybrook through
2008 by focusing fundraising efforts on the Women & Babies program at the
Bayview campus. As leading specialists in growth finance in Canada, Wellington
Financial realizes with success comes corporate responsibility. Our commitment
of today's revenue towards our charitable contributions for 2008 is part of
our ongoing objective to support the ideals of Imagine Canada.
Other charities and organizations that have recently benefited from
Wellington Financial donations include: Bay Street for a Cau$e (Reach for the
Rainbow), the Canadian Art Foundation, The Canadian Institute of Strategic
Studies, The Canadian Opera Company, Canadian Shaare Zedek Hospital
Foundation, The Jean Tweed Centre, Miles Nadal JCC and ProAction Cops & Kids.

on May 21st, 2008 at the fabulous Eagles Nest Golf Club. Sponsorship packages
