WINNIPEG, Aug. 5 /CNW/ - There's been some added excitement at Lottery
Ticket Centres across the country, and the level of excitement will only be
going up over the next few days. With no Jackpot winner of the $36 Million
offered last Saturday night, the LOTTO 6/49 Jackpot for Wednesday, August 6th,
is an estimated $43 Million!
Wednesday's $43 Million Jackpot is closing in on record territory. The
largest-ever lottery Jackpot won in Canada was a $54.3 Million LOTTO 6/49
prize from the October 26, 2005 draw. That prize was won by a group of 17 oil
and gas workers in Central Alberta. The second-largest Lotto 6/49 Jackpot was
$43.2 Million, awarded on August 12, 2006. This Wednesday's draw could surpass
The odds of winning the LOTTO 6/49 Jackpot with any one Selection are
approximately 1 in 14 million, but over the years, many players from the
Prairies and Territories have defied those odds. Last year, 27 residents of
our region won $1 million-dollars or more on lotteries. Many have won with the
purchase of a single ticket, and WCLC reminds players to play responsibly.
Tickets for this Wednesday's HUGE Jackpot can be purchased until
7:00 p.m. MT/8:00 p.m. CT on the day of the draw. Because almost half of the
game's sales traditionally occur on draw day, players are encouraged to buy
their tickets early. Winning numbers and prize information - including whether
the Jackpot was won - will be available on www.wclc.com later that evening.
If Wednesday's Jackpot is carried over, the Saturday August 9th Jackpot
may set a new all-time record!
