Global Social Networking Site Adds First Travel Planning Service
NEW YORK, March 26 /CNW/ - WAYN.com (Where Are You Now), the world's
largest online social networking and travel community announces a strategic
partnership with travel search aggregator Kayak to offer the most
comprehensive flight search service for WAYN's 8 million plus members.
According to Jerome Touze, WAYN co-Founder and co-CEO "Providing a flight
search option to WAYN members is a logical step in a key strategic move to
combine social networking with travel services." He added, "The move also
supports WAYN's aim to improve the customer experience with other innovative
trip-planning services currently under development."
Kayak offers the ability to search hundreds of other travel websites in
real time for the best travel deals available. Kayak lets users look at a full
range of airlines, hotels and car rental agencies quickly and efficiently
based on the exact criteria selected. Results are displayed according to
relevancy, available price and itinerary combinations. Kayak then links
travelers directly to airline websites to facilitate a seamless purchase path,
which means users avoid paying service fees often charged by online agencies
and can benefit from additional incentives like reward points and upgrades.
Through Kayak's integrated flight search service WAYN users will be able
to search for the best fares online, regardless of where in the world they are
based. The new flight search function on WAYN.com will initially be launched
as a beta service and will see a number of releases over time as the site uses
customer feedback to improve functionality.
WAYN.com recently received Series A funding of $11m through Venture
Capitalist ECP and has the backing of Brent Hoberman, former founder and CEO
of lastminute.com, travel experts such as David Soskin and Hugo Burge from
Cheapflights, as well as Andrew Critchlow and Andy Phillips from Active
WAYN (www.wayn.com) offers a vibrant community by which users can keep in
contact with people they meet all over the world, make new friends based on
where they plan to go, and keep everyone back home informed of their
whereabouts and adventures. Users are able to create a profile, log their
past, present and future trips, and to locate other members based on location.
Top services on WAYN.com apart from its global online forum, are photo
storage, mailbox options, instant messenger, a travel guide, chatboards and
worldwide SMS. WAYN's integration of Kayak's new flight search function will
add overall value to the WAYN site through a resourceful combination of social
networking and travel services. WAYN currently reaches over 8 million members
in over 180 countries.
