TORONTO, Aug. 18 /CNW/ - The Elementary Teachers' Federation of Ontario
(ETFO) has presented Waterloo Region Teacher Local communications officer John
Payne with the Newsletter Editor's Award (multi-sheet category).
The award recognizes the outstanding work done by editors who have
created at least two issues of a newsletter during the school year. Award
criteria include the content, quality, and general overall appearance of the
newsletter. John received the award for the publication ETFO INFO.
One of John's goals with the newsletter has been to highlight the work of
the local's committees by featuring their events. He has also worked hard to
incorporate events that happen in teachers' classrooms and at the schools
within Waterloo Region.
As Editor, John must ensure the contributors -- especially his fellow
released officers in the local who have articles in the newsletter -- adhere
to deadlines. In between deadlines, John continues to gather photos and
articles in preparation for the next edition.
ETFO INFO is published four or six times a year, depending on issues and
events happening in the local. More critical issues of the newsletter are sent
to each member at their work site via the local reps. All back issues are
available on the ETFO-Waterloo website so that members can refer back to
previous information and so that members on leave can keep in touch with their
federation and what is happening within their local.
"Some members have referred to ETFO INFO as a snapshot of the events and
issues in ETFO-Waterloo. John is deserving of the ETFO Newsletter Editor's
Award for his work in keeping this snapshot in sharp focus at all times," said
ETFO President David Clegg.
The Elementary Teachers' Federation of Ontario represents 73,000
elementary public school teachers and education workers across the province
and is the largest teacher federation in Canada.
