War Amps Production Featuring Smithers "Champ" Wins Top Award in New York City

NEW YORK CITY, NY, March 30 /CNW Telbec/ - A War Amps production called
PLAYSAFE! in BC, which features a young Smithers boy, was a top winner at the
International Mercury Awards last night in New York City, winning the Gold
Award in the Safety category.
Part of The War Amps Ambassador Series, it shows how the Association
spreads its PLAYSAFE message in the province, and features Adam Kingsmill, 7,
of Smithers, a right leg amputee due to a lawnmower accident. In it, Adam's
role as a Safety Ambassador is highlighted as he rides aboard The War Amps
award-winning PLAYSAFE/DRIVESAFE float and takes part in a PLAYSAFE
presentation.
War Amps CEO Cliff Chadderton, who produces the Series, noted that Adam
was a perfect choice. "Adam learned the safety message the hard way, and he is
dedicated to passing it on so that other kids can learn from what happened to
him," Chadderton said.

Another War Amps production titled Morgan won Grand and Gold Awards in
the Public Service category last night. Part of the Association's Winner's
Circle Series, it tells how Morgan, a young CHAMP member from Aurora, Ontario,
has overcome being born a multiple amputee to live a full and active life.
The 2007 International Mercury Awards, which honour excellence in
professional communication, are chosen from nearly 1,000 entries from 16
countries.
