82 students coast-to-coast receive bursaries to colleges and universities
MISSISSAUGA, ON, Aug. 12 /CNW/ - Wal-Mart Canada announced today it will
award more than $140,000 in scholarships to 82 students across the country
entering their first year of post-secondary education. Each applicant was
evaluated based on academic achievement, community involvement,
extracurricular activities and financial need. To date, Wal-Mart Canada has
sponsored nearly 700 university and college scholarships totaling close to $1
Wal-Mart Canada offers three scholarships for graduating high school
- Community Scholarship - $4,000 over 4 years; open to all Canadian
college or university students.
- Associate Scholarship - $1,500 over 1 year; open to Wal-Mart
associates and dependents of associates.
- Lou Puim Memorial Scholarship - $4,000 over 4 years; open to Wal-Mart
associates and dependents of associates pursuing a degree in

and provide financial assistance for their education and career goals," said
Lina Di Diodato, manager of community involvement for Wal-Mart Canada.
