Vonage and Motorola offer new phone adapter that provides consumers with more functionality

New Motorola VT2542 integrates phone service, wireless networking
and increased network security in one device

MISSISSAUGA, ON and TORONTO, June 21 /CNW/ - Vonage Canada, an innovative
provider of home phone service that leverages the power of the Internet, and
Motorola Canada, today announced the availability of the Motorola VT2542
Internet phone adapter and wireless router. The Motorola VT2542 enables
consumers to expand the use of their Internet connection to include Vonage(R)
phone service and easily set up a secure wireless network. This new wireless
router will help consumers optimize network performance, so they can rely on
their home network to perform tasks, such as faxing documents and browsing the
Internet, without comprising the voice quality of their phone service.
"The addition of the Motorola VT2542 reinforces our commitment to
continually provide cost-effective, easy-to-use devices that meet a variety of
networking and phone service needs," said Bruce Robertson, director, product
and market development, Vonage Canada. "With the ability to wirelessly connect
as many personal computers as needed, the Motorola VT2542 is perfect for the
consumer or small business owner looking for the best in phone service,
wireless networking, and network security."
The Motorola VT2542 provides consumers with many features not available
with other Vonage phone adapters and routers; including, voice-over-data
prioritization, which allows users to talk on the phone while downloading
files from the Internet without reducing the voice quality of their phone
service. The Motorola VT2542 can connect up to two Vonage lines, including
telephone and fax, and contains four Ethernet Local Area Network (LAN) ports,
and an 802.11b/g wireless access point to wirelessly connect additional
computers or other network devices.
"At Motorola we strive to bring our customers broadband technology that
offers a feature-rich, easy-to-use experience, so consumers can confidently
transition their connected home to take full advantage of available broadband
services," said Alan Lefkof, corporate vice president and general manager,
Motorola Broadband Solutions Group. "With the Motorola VT2542 Internet phone
adapter and wireless router, Vonage customers can incorporate high-quality
Internet phone service with wireless home networking capabilities and advanced
security features."
