CHICAGO, Sept. 27 /CNW/ -- Kolcraft Enterprises Inc., of Chicago, Ill.,
is voluntarily recalling about 1000 infant playpens following the death of a
child in the United States. There have been no deaths or reported injuries in
One Kolcraft playpen sold in Canada is included in this recall. The
playpen has a removable changing table attachment with a restraint strap that
forms a loop beneath the changing table that can pose a strangulation hazard
to a child placed in the play yard in violation of the product warning listed
on the changing table. The warning on the changing table attachment advises
parents to always remove the changing table attachment before placing a child
in the play yard.
The recalled play yards are model number 76361-VT sold under the "Sesame
Beginnings" by Kolcraft brand. The model number is printed on a white sticker
located on one of the feet of the play yard.
The play yards were sold through Real Canadian Superstores, Loblaws,
Zehrs, Fortino's, Maxi & Cie, Provigo, and Atlantic Superstores from September
2005 through July 2006.
Consumers should immediately stop using the changing table and contact
Kolcraft for instructions on receiving a free non-looped replacement strap for
the changing table. Consumers should immediately cut off the existing changing
table restraint strap. Consumers should always remove the raised changing
table before placing a child in a play yard.
