Virtual Golf Course Conquers the World

    - Dutch Companies Make World's Largest Indoor Golf Centre Possible -

ZALTBOMMEL, The Netherlands, March 4 /CNW/ - By building the world's
largest indoor golf centre in The Netherlands, golf simulator manufacturer
ProTee United (http://www.protee-united.com) and makers of synthetic grass,
practice facilities, Southwest Greens reaffirm their position as global
leaders in the golfing industry.
Both companies have experienced great expansion in the Asian market, as
well as proving to be very successful in Europe too. For the Indoor Golf Arena
project, expected to open in 2010, ProTee United has implemented twenty
state-of-the-art golf simulators, and Southwest Greens will design and install
14,000m2 of synthetic grass inside the centre. Their contributions have proved
indispensable for the Arena project.
Since 2005 ProTee United has sold over 1,000 simulators worldwide and is
represented in 37 countries. Their simulator allows people to play virtual
golf on a few square meters due to an advanced computer programme. After the
player takes a shot, the ball hits the screen and the system automatically
takes over, determining the ball's trajectory. With the simulator, golf can be
played everywhere, and is not hindered by adverse weather conditions.
"The system is affordable for everyone. It allows people to play a
complete round of golf in their garage, or practice their swing during winter.
Also, numerous hotels and indoor golf centres have had the system installed",
president and CEO Dennis van Drie says. "Our largest expansion has been in
Asia where, for example, in South Korea you see more and more golf cafes
opening, where people come to play. Furthermore pro golfers have been
impressed by the realism and accuracy of our simulator."
In November 2005, the company formed an alliance with Southwest Greens,
the undisputed global leader in the design and installation of synthetic golf
products. With more than 7,000 projects installed around the world since 1996,
in varying climates, Southwest Greens has a proven track record that is
unrivalled. It offers various solutions to both homeowners and commercial golf
courses. Many top golfers like Vijay Singh, Jim Furyk and Maarten Lafeber use
Southwest Greens at home to improve their game. Nicklaus Design(R), one of the
greatest names in golf history, has selected Southwest Greens to create an
exclusive premium quality golf product, combining the design expertise of one
of the greatest names in golf with the advanced and superior installation
system for synthetic golf products provided by Southwest Greens.
The Indoor Arena will show the best both companies have to offer.
"Throughout history, The Netherlands has always had a leading role in
innovation," added Mr. Van Drie, "our goal is to create 250 satellite indoor
golf centres, of which eight to ten are of this magnitude."
